Capoeira-Workshop at Fanø
Get the Brazilian rhythm and dance into the body. Luiz Carlos (Fumaca) will come to Fanø in August 2021 to do workshops in CAPOEIRA. It is a Brazilian movement and martial art, which is on the UNESCO list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Its roots lie in the Portuguese colonial era, where Capoeira was practiced as a martial art disguised as a dance.
Today, capoeira is used in addition to self-defense especially to consciously use the body. Musical instruments such as berimbau are played in harmony with the acrobatic exercises. The rhythm of the music and the poetic lyrics influence the capoeirists’ respective body language. In addition to intercultural skills, the regular training especially promotes coordination, musculature, endurance and sense of rhythm.
Capoeira is grown barefoot and in loose-fitting sportswear. Regardless of age, gender, religion or origin, everyone is welcome to participate in the training, with or without previous experience.
LUIZ CARLOS (FUMAÇA) is from São Paulo and has been teaching capoeira for 15 years. In addition to his regular capoeira teaching, he has been active in social projects in Brazilian favelas, has led self-defense courses and is involved in integration projects. Since 2015, he has offered courses for adults, young people and children in Germany.
