Experience Fanø’s capital, Nordby, with our guide and hear stories about life on Fanø today and more than 125 years ago.
At the end of the 19th century, Nordby was home to a large part of Denmark’s merchant fleet. The shipping companies from Fanø sailed to all corners of the world, bringing prosperity to the island, and many beautiful houses were built. These houses, along with the island’s maritime past, still shape Nordby today.
On the guided walk, we explore the harbor, the narrow winding streets, the bustling life of the main shopping street, and hear the captivating history of the town and its people – plus a few tall tales.

We meet at the sculpture “The 2 Dogs” on the square by the ferry dock. The tour takes about 2 hours. Minimum 5 participants. Experience Nordby together with our guides Ragnhild Kallehauge and Poul Therkelsen. Poul was the tourism director on Fanø for 15 years, and Ragnhild was the person visitors met at the Fanø Tourist Office.
